Pantera Survey: Women In The Crypto Industry Get 15% Higher Salary Than Men

JAKARTA - The latest survey results from the Pantera Research Lab surprise: women who work in the crypto industry in the United States are now getting a salary of about 15% higher than their male counterparts. The annual median salaries for women who work full time in this sector amount to 172,000 US Dollars (around Rp. 2.7 billion), while men only earn a median salary of 150,000 US Dollars (around Rp. 2.4 billion).

This difference marks a significant shift from the gender wage gap that usually occurs in many other sectors. In non-crypto companies in the US, women generally only generate 84 cents for each dollar that men get. However, in the crypto industry, women actually get 1.15 US Dollars (around Rp. 18,693) for every dollar that men get.

One of the factors that may contribute to higher salaries for women in the crypto sector is a longer work experience. On average, women have 5.3 years of experience in crypto companies, while men are only 4.5 years on average. In addition, women occupy the middle to senior level, while men tend to be in an entry-level position when they enter this industry.

Although this trend looks positive, researchers in Pantera warn that challenges for women in this industry still exist, especially with the lack of female representatives in top leadership positions. A report from Forex Suggest reveals that only three of the 50 leading crypto CEOs in 2023 are women, demonstrating the need for further efforts to increase diversity and gender inclusion in the crypto world.

Quoted from Crypto News, Pantera researchers Matt Stephenson, Ally Zach, and Nick Zurck said, "Our analysis found that the difference in gender wages among crypto employees is the opposite of what usually happens. The relatively fair wages in the crypto industry show steps towards greater gender equality, marking a progressive trend in this relatively new field."

The Pantera survey involved 502 full-time employees in the United States, with data collected between June 4 and July 20, 2024 through various professional networks and communication channels.
