Stratetification Of Electricity Tariffs, Government Ensures Electricity Tariffs Don't Increase
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has stratified electricity tariffs, namely the widening of power limits in several electricity tariff groups of PT PLN (Persero).
Some tariff groups such as tariff rates, bulk, business and households are stratified to meet customer needs.
"It is certain that the widening of the electricity tariff power limit will not have an impact on the increase in electricity rates," said Director General of Electricity Jisman Hutajulu at the Coffe Morning Gatrik, Wednesday, July 31.
Jisman hopes that this electric tariff stratification can increase the reliability of electricity supply and encourage a more attractive business climate. This electric tariff stratification is contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 7 of 2024 concerning Electricity Tariffs Provided by PT PLN (Persero).
Along with the current development of business models, several types of businesses and customer needs require a certain power connection that has not been accommodated in the existing tariff category.
Jisman said tariff stratification for large households with power above 200 kVA needs to be supplied with a Medium Voltage. In addition, there is a need for large business customers and cooperation between Electric Power Supply Business Permit holders for Public Interest (IUPTLU) which requires High Voltage Supply with a power above 30,000 kVA.
"The purpose of this electric tariff stratification is to improve the service, efficiency, and reliability of more optimal electricity for the community," said Jisman.
There are 4 groups of PT PLN (Persero) customers who experience power widening, namely:
Low Voltage Household (R-3/TR) power 6,600 VA to 200 kVA is widened to the Medium Voltage (R-3/TM) power above 200 kVA
Medium Voltage Business (B-3/TM) power above 200 kVA is widened to a High Voltage (B-3/TT) of 30,000 kVA power and above
Medium Voltage Track (T/TM) power above 200 kVA is widened to a High Voltage (T/TT) of 30,000 kVA power and above
Medium Voltage Bulk (C/TM) power above 200 kVA is widened to a low voltage (C/TR) of up to 200 kVA and a high voltage (C/TT) of 30,000 kVA power and above
The widening of electricity tariff stratification has an impact on reducing equipment investment in electrical connection, network monitoring and efficiency in land use for electricity infrastructure to customers.
Jisman added that this electric tariff stratification does not only provide benefits for customers, but also for the Government and PLN.

For the Government, said Jisman, this will create an attractive business environment and support government programs in the development and growth of the Electric Vehicle ecosystem including Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) and Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Stations (SPBKLU).
Meanwhile, for PLN, this electricity tariff stratification will improve service quality, answer customer needs and optimize energy production more efficiently.
"This electricity tariff standard has gone through academic studies, received input from the public through FGD and Public Consultation and approval from Commission VII of the DPR RI," he concluded.
