TNI Puspom Still Investigating Cases Of Journalists Burned To Death In Homes

The Commander of the TNI Military Police Center (Danpuspom) Maj. Gen. Yusri Nuryanto confirmed that the case of a journalist who died on fire with his family in Karo, North Sumatra, is currently being handled by the Military Police of the Kodam (Pomdam) I/Bukit Barisan.

The victim's family who reported the case to Pomdam I/Bukit Barisan and the Army Military Police Center (Puspomad), were suspicious of the fire incident.

It is suspected that the victim may have been killed by a certain group that also involved a soldier with the rank of Kopral One (koptu) with the initials HB.

"Still in the process of being investigated, the report has been received by Pomdam I/Bukit Barisan in Medan," said Danpuspom as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 30.

Di lokasi yang sama, Kepala Staf Umum (Kasum) TNI Letjen TNI Bambang Ismawan menegaskan jika memang ada anggota TNI yang terbukti terlibat, pasti bakal ditindak.

"For example, if there is a TNI involved, we must have legal action. Don't hesitate, don't doubt the TNI's commitment to take action if there are members involved, we will definitely take action," said Kasum TNI.

A journalist named Rico Perfect Pasaribu died on fire along with three members of his family at his private residence in Karo Regency, North Sumatra, last month (27/6).

The incident allegedly occurred after Rico reported on a gambling network involving unscrupulous soldiers of Koptu HB.

Investigations related to the incident are currently still being handled by the police.

The North Sumatra Regional Police on Friday (19/7) held a reconstruction related to the case. There were 57 scenes that were shown in the case title.

"I convey that everything is stated in the investigation report, we are waiting for this process to run until the trial stage," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Pol Hadi Wahyudi, in Karo, last week.
