West Sumatra Provincial Government Asked To Immediately Recover Mentally Santri Victims Of Obscenity At Islamic Boarding School Agam

West Sumatra (West Sumatra DPRD) asked the West Sumatra Provincial Government and Agam Regency Government to immediately restore the mentality of students who were victims of sexual violence at the Tarbiyah Islamiyah Madrasah Islamic School (MTI) Canduang, Agam Regency, West Sumatra.

"After this incident, the DPRD encouraged the relevant agencies to immediately provide therapy to victims of sexual violence," said Deputy Chairman of the West Sumatra Provincial DPRD Irsyad Syafar in Padang, West Sumatra, Tuesday, July 30, confiscated by Antara.

Before providing assistance with related agencies, it is necessary to sort out and explore how much sexual violence the victim experienced. Because, he believes that dozens of victims receive different sexual violence from the perpetrator.

Irsyad is of the view that psychological assistance and therapy for victims can be carried out by the health office as well as the protection office of women and children in West Sumatra Province and Agam Regency.

In the future, Irsyad suggested that every school in the Minang realm should strengthen aspects of internal and external supervision. This can be done by installing Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) or surveillance cameras, especially in rooms that are not well monitored.

"With this incident, every school and parents must be more vigilant in paying attention to their children's interactions. Not only with the opposite sex but also with the same sex to anticipate sexual violence," he advised.

Previously, the Bukittinggi Resort Police arrested two unscrupulous teachers at the MTI Canduang Islamic Boarding School, Agam Regency for a criminal case of molesting 40 male students.

"The perpetrators RA (29) and AA (23) were arrested after reports from the victim's family to the Bukittinggi Police with LP number 80 VII/2024. Both of them have been carrying out their actions since 2022," said the Head of the Bukittinggi Police, Kombes Police. Yessi Kurniati.
