Central Java Police Completes Salatiga Land Mafia Case After 3 Years

JATENG - Central Java Police (Central Java) took about three years to resolve the alleged land mafia case in Salatiga City which cost its victims billions of rupiah.

Director of the Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol Dwi Subagio, said the case had been reported to the police since 2021.

According to him, 46 witnesses and two experts were questioned in the investigation process.

The three suspects in the land mafia case, namely AH (39), NR (41), and DI (49), were also involved in other crimes being handled by the prosecutor's office.

"These suspects have their respective roles in action," he said in Semarang, Monday, July 29, as reported by Antara.

He explained that AH and NR claimed to be businessmen who would buy land belonging to several people in Argomulyo, Salatiga City.

Meanwhile, the suspect NR claimed to be a notary who processed the names of the land belonging to the 11 residents.

According to him, the suspects who had just paid the down payment to the land owner then reversed the name of the land which was then used as collateral for the bank.

He said the area of land controlled by the land mafia gang reached 26.9 hectares (ha) with a value of Rp. 9 billion.

The land, he said, was used as collateral for loans at banks which then stalled, resulting in losses of up to Rp. 25 billion.

"The total value of land prices that have not been received by the victims has reached Rp9 billion," he said.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 378 of the Criminal Code regarding fraud and Article 266 of the Criminal Code regarding providing false information.
