Investment Realization Until Semester I 2024 Reaches IDR 829.9 Trillion, Absorbs 1.2 Million Workers
JAKARTA - Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said investment in January-June 2024 (semester I) realized as much as IDR 829.9 trillion has succeeded in absorbing as 1,225,042 workers. "The Semester has now reached IDR 829.9 trillion, growing 22.3 percent, then absorbing its workforce is 1,225,042 people with a target of IDR 1,650 trillion we have reached 50.3 percent," said Minister Bahlil as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 29. He explained that the absorption of the workforce was dominated through domestic investment (PMDN) with an investment value of IDR 408.2 trillion and absorbed 738,202. Meanwhile, for foreign investment (PMA) it was realized in the first semester of I amounting to IDR 421.7 trillion with a employment absorption of 486,840 people. This figure increased by 375,861 people compared to the first semester of the previous year (year on year/yoy) which absorbed 849,181 workers. Furthermore, he said, if detailed based on investment sub-sectors, the processing sector (manufaktur) such as, the basic metal industry, metal goods, not machinery and equipment, as well as the transportation, warehouse and telecommunication sectors the most contributed to investment realization, with each value of IDR 122.2 trillion, and IDR 89.2 trillion.

Bahlil also said that the five countries that contributed the largest in investment realization in the first semester of 2024, namely Singapore, amounting to 8.9 billion US dollars, China 3.9 billion US dollars, Hong Kong 3.8 billion US dollars, the United States 2 billion US dollars, and Japan 1.8 billion US dollars. For information, President Joko Widodo has set the realization of investment as a whole in 2024 to reach Rp1,650 trillion, while based on the strategic plan (restration) of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, investment realization in 2024 is Rp1,239.3 trillion.
