Ministry Of PUPR Speeds Up Completion Of Apron Development And Runway For IKN VVIP Airport
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is pursuing the completion of the courtyard construction (apron) and runway (runway) targets for aircraft at IKN VVIP Airport to be completed in August 2024.
"We, on August 4, 2024, were asked to complete the apron with an area of 180x90 meters," said Director General of Highways Rachman Arief in North Penajam Paser, quoted from Antara, Monday, July 29.
He said the apron facilities that have been included in the current planning process are three points that function as helicopter landings or helipads for important guest needs.
Then for the runway, said Rachman, it is planned to be completed by the end of August 2024 along 2,200 meters with an area of 3,000 m2.
In addition to apron and runway facilities, the Ministry of PUPR also needs to facilitate road access from VVIP Airport to provincial road access in North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU).
The process of preparing land for airport construction, said Rachman, is fully supported by the local government and the main "stakeholders" of the Ministry of PUPR in the implementation of airports and operations.
"Then we will coordinate with friends at the Ministry of Transportation to prepare access from the VVIP airport to the provincial road that is now being used," he said.
All of these projects, said Rachman, really depend on the weather situation in the job field in order to avoid construction defects.
"Once again, the record is that if the weather is favorable, because we have to make sure the structure of this runway is in very good condition, there is no room for 'error' at all," he said.

He said that each layer of infrastructure is being carefully calculated by the construction team to ensure the strength of the facility structure itself.
"So, the Minister ordered not to give the slightest space for errors, there should be no margin of error, we must comply with the specified specifications," he said.
Regarding the technical operations of the airport, Rachman said it was the responsibility of the Ministry of Transportation as an operator.
"If the airport is operational, it is certain that transportation friends are closely related to airport operations later, we will prepare operations at the Ministry of Transportation," he said.
