Defeat Dewa Kipas 3-0, GM Irene: After This, Please Don't Blaspheme Mr. Dadang

JAKARTA - Dewa Kipas aka Dadang Subur lost badly to Grand Master Irene Sukandar in a match on Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube channel this afternoon. Dadang lost 0-3 and decided not to play in the fourth round.

After the match, Dadang praised Irene's solid play and defense. "Absolutely impenetrable," he said as quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, Irene admitted that she really enjoyed the match. Apart from that, Irene hopes that this friendly match can end Dewa Kipas' polemic.

"After from here, please don't blaspheme Mr. Dadang ... We are here for friendship, not a means of proof," said Irene.

A representative from PB Percasi Hendry Djamal who was the referee in the match also hoped that the event could be used as a joint learning for Indonesian chess.

The same thing was also conveyed by Deddy Corbuzier who held the event. He hopes that the match will improve the chess world in Indonesia because chess has never been that big.

Deddy said the friendly match which was broadcasted live on his YouTube account was watched by millions of people.

He also said that the match that was held face-to-face or offline had met health protocols, and a COVID-19 test had been carried out first.

Deddy gave a prize of Rp. 200 million to the winner and Rp. 100 million to the loser. This amount is an increase from the total Rp. 150 million announced on Saturday.

In the last few weeks, the news about the case of Dewa Kipas's account that won the match against foreign chess player IM Levy Rozman (USA) under the account name GothamChess has been hotly discussed.

This emerged when Dewa Kipas' account was banned by chess.com which resulted in Indonesian netizens making "attacking" comments on various social media accounts belonging to GothamChess and chess.com, such as on Twitter, Instagram, and also YouTube because they did not accept Dewa Kipas accounts got banned.

Deddy Corbuzier invited the owner of the Dewa Kipas account to appear on his podcast. After the open letter, Irene was also invited to Deddy Corbuzier's podcast. Deddy Corbuzier's podcast team then took the initiative to make a friendly match between Dewa Kipas and Irene.
