DPRD Reveals Many Jakarta PJLP Employees Are Entangled In Debt To Moneylenders

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ida Fauziyah, revealed that many other individual service provider employees (PJLP) of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government are in debt to moneylenders.

Ida got this case from the confession of the PJLPs when monitoring PJLP's performance in the field.

Ida said that initially there was a PJLP supervisor who offered the lure of an unconditional loan fund, so they were tempted to apply for the debt.

"Even though it's not 100 percent, there are a lot (PJLP owes moneylenders). Almost all (PJLP) agencies exist, the Forestry Service, SDA, Bina Marga. So, there are new children, once approached and lured by an unconditional debt," Ida told reporters, Friday, July 26.

The perpetrators of this loan bidder invited PJLP to owe up to Rp. 20 million to Rp. 30 million. However, it turns out that there are provisions that must be agreed upon by the borrower.

PJLP who apply for debt must submit an ATM card used to distribute their salaries to the perpetrators as collateral until the debt is paid off.

So, every month, the perpetrators cut the salaries of the PJLP as debt installments plus the interest paid. As a result, the PJLP now cannot get a full salary every month.

"It's a pity that they get a salary of Rp. 5 million, the hope is for their children, their daily needs, their highest interest is cut," said Ida.

On that basis, Ida asked the DKI Provincial Government to find a solution to free PJLP from the loan of the moneylenders' funds.

"This is our job. Even though we are talking (PJLP) don't borrow, we can't do that because of their needs. But we have to find a solution. I hope this doesn't happen again," he added.
