It Takes 200,000 People, BPSDMI Builds The Penampil Industrial Human Resources Training Center Using Land From BP Batam

JAKARTA - The Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) conducted an audience with BP Batam at the PIDI 4.0 Building, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, today.

The Head of BPSDMI of the Ministry of Industry Masrokhan said the hearing was carried out to discuss cooperation in developing skilled and competitive industrial workers by building an Industrial Education and Training Center (BDI) in the Batam area and its surroundings.

"Given the considerable need for labor in Batam, both in the field of shipyard welding and other competencies, BPSDMI proposes the construction of BDI in Batam to meet the needs of workers in Batam, Riau Islands and surrounding areas," Masrokhan told reporters, Friday, July 26.

Masrokhan appreciated the cooperation carried out with BP Batam. In this case, BP Batam as the party that has provided land and buildings covering an area of 8,765 square meters is ready to provide these assets to the BPSDMI of the Ministry of Industry.

Later, the creation of BDI in Batam City will focus on providing and improving the quality of human resources (HR) in the field of metal, machinery, aeronautics, information and computer technology, shipping. Including the electronics industry, especially semiconductors according to industrial needs in Batam.

According to him, the need for labor in Batam now reaches around 200,000 people. In detail, the need for workers for 583 foreign investment companies (PMA) is 118,781 people.

Then, the need for labor for 1,175 domestic investment companies (PMDN) is around 58,556 people.

He hopes that the establishment of BDI in Batam City can be built soon so that the sooner BDI will also be ratified and used.

"Hopefully, all relevant parties can coordinate well to make maximum use of this new asset. We hope that BP Batam can cooperate further for the implementation of training for the industry," he added.
