Surge Gandeng Nokia Develops Affordable Home Internet Network For 25 Million Households In Java
JAKARTA - PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk or Surge (WIFI) has officially formed a strategic partnership with Nokia Indonesia to jointly develop and expand affordable home internet services throughout Indonesia.
Nokia will play a strategic partner for Surge, providing end-to-end network connectivity. This initiative aims to provide reliable, high-speed, and affordable internet services to 25 million households on the island of Java, which will then expand to other islands in Indonesia. This initiative will answer the needs of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Automation, and User Experience Development.
It is also hoped that this will have an impact on education by supporting distance learning and developing essential digital skills. This will prepare the younger generation to contribute to increasing the nation's intelligence and welfare. This collaboration focuses on providing fast and affordable internet solutions to ensure that more households in Indonesia can access high-quality internet services.
As is known, the penetration of the Fixed Broadband internet in Indonesia has only reached 15 percent, much lower than other countries in Southeast Asia. Cooperation from various stakeholders is very important to provide fast, reliable, and affordable internet services, so that it can have a significant impact in bridging the digital divide and encouraging increased digital inclusion for Indonesia's future economic development.
Nokia will use its latest Software-Defined Lightspan FX access node which is capable of presenting GPON/XGS-PON/25GS-PON and utilizing Altiplano's automation platform to operate and optimize Surge infrastructure, thus ensuring smooth and efficient internet connectivity.
The Surge-Nokia collaboration aims to reach urban and rural areas along the railway line on the island of Java and will develop to other regions in Indonesia. This fast and affordable Internet will support increased educational opportunities that are of high quality, encourage economic activity, and improve the quality of life of the Indonesian people.
Under this partnership, Nokia will deploy the most advanced DWDM network using the 1830 Photonic Service Switch platform, which is capable of reaching 400G or higher speeds with lower use of space and power consumption. Nokia's optical network will also serve as a backbone for internet connectivity and high capacity data center connectivity, ensuring high level of resilience and lower latency.
In addition, the latest multi-layered IP solution network is also applied throughout Java. This network includes high-speed access and aggregation routers, along with the IP routing platform from Nokia based on FP5 routing silicon as a whole. The goal is to provide home broadband services by utilizing the Border Network Gateway technology, Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation, and Internet Gateway from Nokia.
In today's rapidly growing digital landscape, Artificial Intelligent (AI) plays an important role in shaping a better user experience. With Nokia solutions and Surge telecommunications infrastructure, the network is expected to be able to take advantage of the best automation and AI-driven operations to improve user experience.
