Preventing Escape To Real Madrid, Liverpool Gives Trent Alexander-Arnold A Big Contract

JAKARTA - Liverpool have prepared a very large contract for defender Trent Alexander-Arnold. This contract extension offer is expected to prevent this 25-year-old player from escaping to Real Madrid.

Madrid have been eyeing Alexander-Arnold for a long time. Despite signing Kylian Mbappe and Endrick and renewing Joselu's contract, Madrid still wants to add players.

Recruitment of defenders was Madrid's priority after captain Nacho's departure whose contract ended. After spending his long career, Nacho left Madrid and chose to play in Saudi Arabia before retiring.

Madrid have indeed targeted a number of centre-backs. But the club also hopes to bring Alexander-Arnold who can become a full back or defensive midfielder.

Alexander-Arnold is one of the versatile players whose contract expires in 2025. This is what makes Los Merengues want to recruit him. Moreover, the deputy captain of the Reds is a close friend of Jude Bellingham, Madrid's main pillar.

But Liverpool will not release their players. More than that, Liverpool is ready to give a big contract to their players.

The offer made England defenders not leaving Anfield. Especially after he remains part of Arne Slot's new team manager.

Sources at the club told The Sun that Alexander-Arnold had met Slot. The meeting was held before the player flew to Germany to strengthen the Three Lions at Euro 2024.

"Trent has spoken with the new manager. They met before he played at Euro 2024. In the talks, the manager appreciated the wishes of players who wanted to focus on the tournament," the source said.

"Trent like other players stated that they are ready to undergo the new season and want to immediately undergo training [with the new manager] which is the foundation for success," he said.

Alexander-Arnold stated that he remains committed to Liverpool. This also dismissed rumors that he accepted an offer from Madrid.

"He is fully committed. The club will also give prizes in the form of lengthy contract extensions with a large value. Anyone at this club has great respect for Trent. So the club will try to keep him," he said again.

Alexander-Arnold became Liverpool's vice-captain after Jordan Henderson's departure. Last season, he played 28 times in the English Premier League and scored three goals.

He has played a total of 310 times in Liverpool and scored 19 goals. Alexander-Arnold led The Pool to win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup twice.

At Euro 2024, he played four times, two of which started. Alexander-Arnold was fielded in the match against Serbia and Denmark. But manager Gareth Southgate then blocked him. He has played 29 times for the national team.
