PPP Values The Late Hamzah Haz A Teduh Politician

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP United Development Party (PPP) Achmad Baidowi (Awiek) views the figure of the 9th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Hamzah Haz as a shady politician.

"He's a cool politician, a shady politician, not in conflict and we miss him a lot," Awiek said when contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta, Wednesday, July 24.

According to him, Hamzah is also a senior politician who is an example because he is able to make history as vice president of the party bearing the symbol of the Kaaba.

Awiek also admitted that he was deeply saddened by Hamzah's passing. He hopes Hamzah's struggle can be a contribution to Indonesia's progress.

"Hopefully his deeds of worship will be accepted and Pak Hamzah's struggle will contribute to the progress of this nation," he said.

Hamzah Haz passed away, Wednesday morning, at 09.30 WIB at the Tegalan Clinic, Jakarta.

Hamzah is currently in the process of being bathed to be prayed at his mosque located on Jalan Nenas, Bogor, West Java.

For information, Hamzah Haz was born in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, on February 15, 1940.

He started his career as a teacher in 1960. Then, became a journalist for the Free newspaper in Pontianak until he became the General Chair of the Pawu News Daily in West Kalimantan.

In addition, Hamzah served as Minister of Investment in the era of President BJ Habibie. He has also been Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives and Coordinating Minister for Welfare during the era of President Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur).

Furthermore, Hamzah served as Vice President accompanying the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri from 2001 to 2004.

Then, Hamzah also served as General Chair of PPP for the period 1998 to 2007.
