Lalu Aria Dharma Excelled in Mataram City Election Survey

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Survey Panel (PSI) survey institute released the results of a survey regarding the election of Mayor of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

The survey shows that the Secretary of the Council (Sekwan) in the Mataram City DPRD, Lalu Aria Dharma, has a slight lead over the Mayor of Mataram, Mohan Roliskana, if the regional elections were held at this time.

"Then Aria Dharma has a slight lead over the Mayor of Mataram, Mohan Roliskana, even though he is in first place as a figure who has high electability as a candidate for Mayor of Mataram," said PSI Executive Director, Bagas Mahendra in his statement, Tuesday, July 23.

Bagas explained that in the results of the survey entitled 'Measuring the Preferences of Mataram City Residents in the Mataram Mayor Election', the first position was filled by Lalu Aria Dharma with 18.2 percent, followed by second position Mohan Roliskana with 17.9 percent. Third is Didi Sumardi with 9.1 percent.

The next positions were successively filled by Mujiburrahman 8.3 percent, Abdul Rahman 5.4 percent, Herman Mahaputra 4.1 percent, Lalu Gita Ariadi 3.8 percent, Baihaqi 3.6 percent, Putu Selly Andayani 3.4 percent, Ferdian Elmansyah 2.1 percent, H. Muzihir 1.8 percent, Badruttamam Ahda 1.6 percent, and other names below 1 percent. Meanwhile, 16.8 percent did not vote.

In a simulation of 10 names, continued Bagas, Lalu Aria Dharma was still ahead at 23.3 percent, followed by Mohan Roliskana with 22.9 percent. Then Herman Mahaputra 9.8 percent, Didi Sumardi 9.4 percent, Mujiburrahman 8.3 percent, Abdul Rahman 4.9 percent, Putu Selly Andayani 4.7 percent, Lalu Gita Ariadi 3.6 percent, Baihaqi 3.4 percent, Muzihir 2.4 percent, and 7.3 percent did not choose.

"Meanwhile, in the 4 name simulation test, Lalu Aria Dharma got 33.3 percent of the choices, then Mohan Roliskana 32.9 percent. In third place was Herman Putra with 13.8 percent, and fourth was Mujiburrahman 10.7 percent, while not chose 9.3 percent," explained Bagas.

Bagas said that the PSI survey also carried out a head to head test between the Mayor of Mataram, Mohan Roliskana and Lalu Aria Dharma. The result, he said, was that Lalu Aria Dharma's electability rate was 43.3 percent and Mohan Roliskana's was 42.1 percent.

"There is only a difference of 1.3 percent, while the number of people who did not vote was 14.6 percent," said Bagas.

From the results of the survey, continued Bagas, it can be concluded that the incumbent Mayor of Mataram, Mohan, narrowly lost to Lalu Aria Dharma. According to him, in aggregate society has begun to become less interested in Mohan's leadership and requires change.

"And the survey results could be an anomaly that condemns incumbents. Where incumbents are defeated by newcomers," he concluded.

The PSI survey was carried out on 2-10 July 2024 involving 1,200 respondents from the survey population of Mataram City residents who have the right to vote in the elections.

Selected respondents were interviewed face to face using a multistage random sampling method, with a margin of error of around ±2.82 percent.
