LBH: Digital Forensic Can Restore CCTV Copy Of Maulana's Afif Death Case
Padang Legal Aid Institute (LBH), West Sumatra, stated that digital forensic experts can return a copy of the surveillance camera or Closed-Circuit Television/CCTV which was reported to have been automatically deleted due to the death of Afif Maulana (13), a student in Padang City."LBH has coordinated with several people we know have more knowledge regarding it, especially digital forensics that the reason (CCTV) was hit can be returned using a tool," said Padang LBH Director Indira Suryani in Padang, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, July 23.Therefore, continued Indira, there is no reason for the police not to be able to provide CCTV or a copy to reveal the cause of Afif Maulana's death, which is still under investigation. In fact, based on information obtained by LBH, digital forensic experts can return CCTV data that has been hit for 11 days. Therefore, his party is waiting for the West Sumatra Police's commitment to provide a copy of the CCTV requested by LBH Padang."We are waiting for the West Sumatra Police's commitment to be really serious about getting a copy of the CCTV," he said.LBH Padang has submitted a letter requesting information to the West Sumatra Regional Police regarding official reports and autopsy copies to CCTV copies and other documents related to Afif Maulana's death whose body was found under the Kuranji Bridge, Padang City, on June 9, 2024.On that occasion, Indira conveyed a number of efforts that had been made by LBH Padang as the attorney for the victim's family, including exploring three adult witnesses who participated in bathing Afif Maulana. The testimony obtained was the discovery of an alleged blunt object blow on Afif Maulana's back with a length of about 4 to 10 centimeters. This is allegedly indicated by the tool used by the police at night."The indication is that it matches the tools used by the police that night. Old blunt objects such as rattan," he said. Therefore, LBH Padang believes Afif Maulana met with police officers at the Kuranji Bridge, Padang City.
In addition, LBH has also brought two child witnesses, one of whom admitted and found out that Afif Maulana was surrounded by three police officers at night. "This child's witness also heard Afif Maulana ask for mercy," he added.
