Protected Swamp Reservoir Contaminated By Waste, PDIP Canceled Thousands Of Fish Seeds

JAKARTA - The Rawa Lindung Reservoir, Pesanggarahan, South Jakarta is suspected of being contaminated by unauthorized waste. As a result, the plan of the PDI Perjuangan together with the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and a number of other figures to sow fish seeds in the reservoir has not been implemented.

PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said, before the event started, his party had checked the condition of the reservoir and the water quality was declared good.

"But last night it turned out that someone dumped the waste in this place," said Hasto in a written statement, Sunday, March 21.

He also said that the illegal disposal of this waste had been complained of by local residents. However, this often happens over and over again.

"So that the fish that we should be stocking here will not be able to live. And later we have to move it, "he explained.

The failure of the plan to spread the fish seeds made him concerned. This is because, based on the explanation from Minister Wahyu Trenggono, the reservoir area of 1 hectare alone will produce at least 25-30 tons of goldfish or tilapia cultivated every three months and the value could reach IDR 3 billion per year.

"So there is potential if the water is clean. If the local government enforces the rules, whoever, whether it's the convection industry, is not allowed to dump waste here, it will have economic potential. Who is it for? Who manages it, namely for the community," he said.

Even though it did not spread fish seeds, tree planting around the reservoir was still being carried out. This is a form of commitment to beautify the universe so that it can coexist in a good and clean environment.

On that occasion, Hasto told how as leaders in Jakarta who were PDIP cadres such as Joko Widodo, Basuki Purnama, and Djarot Saiful Hidayat, had ever been present at Rawa Lindung.

Unfortunately the program was not sustainable until now. Moreover, at the location there are two heavy equipment for dredging the swamp mud. However, Hasto conveyed that residents confessed that even though it had been around for about 4 months, the equipment only worked a day for two hours.

"Please help the DPRD to carry out its supervisory function, that efforts to build a beautiful environment, let alone using public funds, must really be supervised," said Hasto.

"The movement to clean the environment must be a way of life for us. And the residents will be able to imagine how this reservoir will become a place for trekking, sports, fishing together. We are only pioneers, but we are ready to work together and ready to help all of you so that the environment here will be better. Of course. Just with the help of the local government with its budget politics, "he concluded.
