Minister Of Agriculture Amran Calls Sudaryono A New Energy To Face Climate Change Challenges In The Food Security Sector
JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman called Sudaryono a new energy for the Ministry of Agriculture in facing the challenges of climate change in the national food security sector.
Amran made this statement when asked for comment about Sudaryono, who was just appointed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan) at the Jakarta Presidential Palace complex, Thursday, July 18.
"Alhamdulillah, there is Wamen. This is new energy, because the challenges ahead are increasingly complex, there are climate change, climate change, that's amazing, there is El Nino, there is drought, this needs to be resolved in a short time," he said, as reported by Antara.
Amran said that food as Indonesia's strategic sector had experienced production reductions in January-February 2024 due to climate influences.
"We have to catch up in the future, catch up with us, so that production increases," he said.
When asked about the division of tasks, Amran said that ministerial and deputy ministerial officials at the Ministry of Agriculture must have the same vision and mission to increase national food productivity.
"It has to be integrated. There are no divisions," he said.
Responding to this, Sudaryono committed that his capacity as deputy minister was the success of the duties and performance of Minister of Agriculture Amran.

"The success of the deputy minister is how we see the success of the Minister. So in general I convey that my task is to make the performance task of the Minister successful," he said.
Sudaryono believes that under Amran's leadership as Minister of Agriculture, Indonesia can achieve food self-sufficiency.
"Mr. Amran has a good vision, then the execution is also good. We once had a food self-sufficiency experience, meaning that we can and are able to carry out it," he said.
