The Opening Of The 2024 Olympics Will Be Secured By 45 Thousand Police

JAKARTA - The organizers of the 2024 Paris Olympics have confirmed that around 45 thousand police will secure the opening ceremony on July 26, 2024.

Head of Planning and Coordination for the 2024 Olympics, Lambis Konstantinidis, said the event would continue according to plan even though the candidate for President of the United States, Donald Trump, had just experienced a shooting incident last weekend.

"Our security plan is very dynamic. They always consider the latest events and try to adapt," he said.

He also added that France continues to coordinate with US security agencies and secret services regarding security situations. Therefore, they are confident in the existing plans.

"So, we also share any information we have. We are very confident that we have the same views, but we do not need to change any plans as a result of the unfortunate incident," he said.

Ucapara pembukaan tersebut untuk pertama kalinya akan digelar di luar stadion. Menurut laporan, ada lebih dari 100 kepala negara dan pemerintahan akan hadir di acara itu.

About 80 boats will transport international athletes on a six-kilometer route along the Seine River to the Eiffel Tower, which is the landmark of Paris City.

In addition, the opening of the 2024 Olympics will reportedly be attended by more than 300 thousand spectators. This number is quite risky, especially in the current situation, there is a war in Gaza and Ukraine.

"This route is six kilometers long so this is a very wide area to monitor. That's why we need a lot of police (for security)," said Konstantinidis.

Foreign conflicts and domestic security concerns led the French government earlier this year to raise the level of security emergency to its maximum level.

In fact, in May 2024 the security forces arrested a man in the city of Saint-Etienne, France. He is suspected of planning an attack on behalf of ISIS at the city football stadium during the 2024 Olympics.
