Argentina Becomes The King Of The Copa America

JAKARTA Argentina is now officially the team with the most Copa America titles in history after beating Colombia in the 2024 edition final match.

The meeting of the two teams at the top of the tournament took place at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, Florida, United States, on Monday, July 15, 2024, morning WIB.

Both teams played goalless in 90 minutes so the match continued into extra time 2 x 15 minutes. It was in that round that Lautaro Martinez's single goal became the winner.

This result made Argentina officially lift the 16th title of the Copa America as well as maintain the trophies they got from the previous edition.

The number of these trophies is the largest of any team in the history of Conmebol's biggest tournament. Now, they have one trophy ahead of Uruguay in second place on the list of the most trophies.

La Albiceleste secured their status as ruler of the Copa America after playing their 30th final in this event. Meanwhile, Uruguay got that number in 21 final matches.

Victory over Colombia also extended Argentina's winning record to 10 consecutive matches. The last time they lost was against Uruguay in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in November 2023.

Meanwhile, this defeat made Colombia end their 28 unbeaten matches. In addition, their dream of lifting the second title from the Copa America was delayed.

The only Copa America title they had was in the 2001 edition. At that time they acted as hosts and stopped Mexico in the final match.
