Condemns 5 Young NU Leaders To Meet Israeli President, PBNU: Hurts Nahdliyin Residents' Feelings

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, Savic Ali, condemned the actions of five young NU figures who met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

Savic could not understand why these 5 Nahdliyin residents could visit Israel and meet the head of state who was the perpetrator of the military aggression against Palestine.

"What is clear is that their departure was difficult to accept because it hurt the feelings of Nahdliyin residents. NU residents should not visit Israel. This is an act of not understanding the geopoliticals and feelings of NU residents," said Savic in his statement, Monday, July 15.

Savic emphasized that the visit of the five NU residents was not on behalf of the organization. PBNU also does not know which party support they are leaving for Israel.

"Their visit is possible on behalf of personal. We don't know what purpose it is and who sponsored it. This is a regrettable action," he explained.

Despite being on behalf of personal visits, Savic emphasized that the five people were known as citizens and even NU activists. This, Savic acknowledged, would worsen NU's image in the public eye.

Israel has not recognized Palestine and continues to carry out military aggression that claimed thousands of lives. Israel still drops bombs and bullets on Palestinians. There were so many victims, civilians, "said Savic.

Therefore, in the near future, PBNU will summon the five people to ask for clarification on their purpose and purpose of meeting with the President of Israel.
