Gold Mining Landslides Eat 325 Victims, Members Of Commission VII Urge The Form Of The PETI Task Force
Member of Commission VII DPR RI Mulyanto urged the Government to immediately form a mining task force without a permit (PETI), following a major landslide disaster in East Suwawa District, Gorontalo Province, Sunday, July 7, which claimed 325 people.
"Moreover, the draft Presidential Decree for the formation of the PETI eradication task force has been on the presidential table for a long time," said Mulyanto, Monday, July 15.
The deputy chairman of the PKS faction of the DPR RI urged the Government to attend and not to allow the practice of managing the high-risk people's mines.
According to him, similar people's mines are spread throughout Indonesia and involve a large number of people. Especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, which has triggered economic turbulence, for the lower class, people's mining has become a place to depend on their daily livelihoods to make a living.
Therefore, according to Mulyanto, the government must really pay attention. The victims of hundreds of people are very large. Moreover, it is known that 27 people died and 15 people have not been found.
"The government must not turn a blind eye and exert omission. The state must be present to protect the entire Indonesian nation. There must be concrete steps for improving the governance of this people's mining in the future," he explained.
Mulyanto added that the poorly managed mining of the people was due to the weak guidance and treatment from the Government.

"The illegal mining task force that has been heralded by the Government to this day has stopped only for discourse. The President's decree regarding this has not appeared," regretted Mulyanto.
To note until the seventh day since the day of the landslide on Sunday, July 7, 27 people were found dead and 15 people missing.
Based on data from the Gorontalo Basarnas, the temporary number of victims of the landslide disaster in East Tulabolo Village, East Suwawa District, Gorontal Province reached 325 people.
