Bawaslu Reminds ASN Not To Participate In The 2024 Pilkada Campaign
JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) again reminded the state civil apparatus (ASN) not to be involved in the 2024 Pilkada campaign, either directly or indirectly.
Even though ASN has voting rights, Bawaslu hopes that they carry out their duties in accordance with their respective functions and responsibilities.
This was revealed by Bawaslu member Herwyn JH Malonda at the planting of a mangosteen tree at the Bawaslu office, Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Sunday, July 14.
"We hope that ASN will not be involved in the implementation of direct or indirect elections. So, later ASN will really carry out their duties according to their respective functions. Other tasks will be carried out by other agencies," said Herwyn.
Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian stated that ASN was allowed to attend the 2024 simultaneous regional election candidate campaign. The rules that allow ASN to attend when the campaign is listed in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

Even though it is allowed to attend, the role of ASN is only to listen to the vision and mission of regional leaders, so they have references to choose a leader.
As a form of neutrality, Tito firmly still prohibits ASN from actively campaigning, let alone mobilizing or directing others to one of the pairs of candidates for regional heads.
