Acting Mayor Of Tangerang Invites Residents To Plant Chili Independently
JAKARTA - Tangerang Mayor Nurdin said that although commodity supplies and prices such as chilies and onions are relatively safe, it is necessary for the community to play a role in maintaining availability by planting independently.
"Let's take advantage of the lands around us to grow commodities that are being hunted and most sought after in the market, such as cayenne pepper and onions, so that the stock availability is maintained so that the price can be stable," said Acting Mayor of Tangerang Nurdin, in Tangerang, Banten, quoted from Antara, Saturday, July 13.
Previously, the Acting Mayor of Nurdin and his staff had carried out direct monitoring in traditional markets for a number of commodities, including cayenne pepper, red chilies and garlic and shallots.
"Alhamdulillah, if we observe the supply and price of commodities which are important factors in determining inflation, it is relatively safe," he said.
He hopes that the stable price and adequateness of these important commodities can help reduce the pace of inflation in society.
"However, we need to remember that the above commodities are seasonal commodities, so it is necessary for the participation of the community to also participate in maintaining the availability of supplies of these foodstuffs," he said.
Assistant for Economics and Development of Tangerang City Rutan Ireng Wicaksono said the inflation index in June 2024 based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) decreased to 2.82 percent.
