Arriving In Malaysia, EV Mini Cooper Will Also Debut At GIIAS 2024

JAKARTA - The All-New Mini Cooper was introduced in September last year. Now, this hatchback-shaped car has arrived in the Southeast Asia region, precisely in Malaysia. The car is present in the SE variant.

Under the code name J01, this car comes with a much better performance and reach than ever, while maintaining a cute and adorable look and compact dimension.

Reported by Paultan, Saturday, July 13, the EV version of Cooper has a DRL light along with a circular LED as well as back lighting of the matrix, both with three different lighting patterns to choose from.

The legs themselves are equipped with an 18-inch two-tone Night Flash Spokesheet wrapped in 225/40 R18 Maxxis Premitra 5.

The British brand also provides a simpler look on the interior with a circular screen measuring 9.4 inches in the middle of a dashboard that has become a hallmark of a manufacturer that functions as an infotainment and instrument.

The midscreen on the dashboard has been operated with Mini Operating System 9, which was developed by the BMW Group and is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software.

In terms of safety, Cooper SE has a number of features ranging from autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and real cross traffic alert with auto brake. In order to make it easier for drivers, this car is available with parking assistance such as 360-degree camera system and 3D remote via smartphone application.

Built on a new platform built by Great Wall Motor (GWM), Cooper SE is implanted with a single electric motor of 218 ps and a 330 Nm torque that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with the highest speed of 170 km/hour.

This is assisted by power from a nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery with a capacity of 54.2 kWh which produces a range of up to 402 km according to the WLTP. This is compatible with an AC 11 kW charging system and a DC 95 kW fast charging system that can fill in from 10 to 80 percent below 30 minutes.

Mini Cooper SE is priced starting from 193,888 ringgit (Rp665.9 million). With its presence in Malaysia, this opens up opportunities for these models to be present in other markets such as Indonesia.

BMW Group Indonesia will participate in the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) by offering a number of innovative vehicles from the BMW and Mini brands.

"At GIIAS 2024, one of the vehicles launched was also a local assembled vehicle," said Director of Communications BMW Group Indonesia Jodie O'tania.

This is also reinforced by an Instagram upload from the official Mini Indonesia (mini_indonesia) account which shows a picture from Mini Cooper SE accompanied by the words 'Red Carpet List... GIIAS 2024'.

"Jreng jreng jreng... Get ready to meet at GIIAS 2024," wrote the official account.
