Simone Inzaghi Extends Contract With Inter Milan

JAKARTA - Simone Inzaghi has signed a new contract with Inter Milan to coach I Nerazzurri over the next two years. Inzaghi (48) started working with Inter Milan in 2021 to replace Antonio Conte.

"With this new agreement, Inzaghi will lead the Nerazzurri until 2026," the club said in a statement as reported by AFP via ANTARA, Jumar, July 12 local time.

The former Lazio coach is actually still under contract with Inter Milan until 2025, but the club management is satisfied with his performance so as to provide additional contracts until 2026.

Inzaghi managed to rebuild Inter Milan into a giant team in Italy. The club based at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium won the Serie A title in 2023, the Coppa Italia in 2021 and 2022 and penetrated the Champions League final in the 2022 season.

Last season, Inter Milan won by 19 points from city rivals AC Milan who finished second. Another thing that the management took into consideration to maintain Inzaghi's position was that the coach managed to build the Inter Milan club when the club's financial condition was not good.

The owner of Inter Milan previously, Suning Group, failed to pay off hundreds of millions of dollars in debt. The club was then sold to the United States company Oaktree Capital Management in May 2024.
