Fresh Food Sampling Test Results At Tomang Barat Market Negative, NFA Appreciates PAS Monitoring Posts Safe

JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (NFA) appreciates the role of the Provincial Government of the Special Region of Jakarta in the implementation of monitoring the security of fresh food and fostering market traders through the Pantau Pasar Pangan Segar Aman (PAS Aman) Post.

"Thank you for the active role of the Jakarta Provincial Government in the implementation of food safety development and supervision in traditional markets. From the fresh food that we test, it is all declared safe for the public to circulate and consume," said Director of Food Insecurity Control of NFA Sri Nuryanti during a food safety sampling test at Tomang Barat Market on Thursday, July 11.

Supervision of the safety of fresh food which is one of the tasks and functions of NFA is the government's effort to ensure the safety and quality of fresh food from plants, animals, and fish to prevent degenerate diseases that can interfere with health. This effort is carried out regularly in conjunction with monitoring food supply and prices in various regions according to the instructions of the Head of NFA Arief Prasetyo Adi.

From this sampling test, it was found that the fresh food condition at Tomang Barat Market was guaranteed to be safe from residual pesticides and other harmful substances.

Formalin and organophosphate carbanate tests were conducted on several fresh food commodities in market traders' stalls, including chilies, onions, carrots, tomatoes, chicken, and fish. Market traders welcome this effort and hope that the results can also be reported regularly in order to maintain the quality of their merchandise.

"This is what we hope for, we are trying to get the price of street vendors in traditional markets but can get five-star quality for fresh food that is circulating for the community," added Sri Nuryanti, who is often called Inung.

The PAS Aman Monitoring Post is available in three traditional markets in the Jakarta area, namely the Kramat Jati Main Market, Mayestik Market, and West Tomang Market. Meanwhile, nationally, PAS Aman has spread more than 63 districts/cities in 22 provinces.

The Post Monitoring Post (ICS) officer has attended the training for sampling and implementing fresh food safety tests by the Central Food Safety Competent Authority (OKKPP) and is ensured to be competent in carrying out its duties and functions.

On this occasion, socialization of food safety was also carried out with the Department of Marine Food Security and Agriculture of the Special Region of Jakarta to market traders, especially in terms of labeling food product packaging, hygiene and sanitation, as well as quality. Fresh food safety standards need to be applied by business actors to ensure the quality and quality of fresh food products they trade.

Along with the Sampling test, supply monitoring and food prices are also carried out as a basis for intervention in efforts to control inflation as directed by President Joko Widodo. Most food prices in Jakarta are monitored to be stable, only the cooking oil commodity of Oilkita tends to rise above the Highest Eceren Price (HET).
