Minister Of Industry Agus Gumiwang Says PP 20/2024 Encourages Equitable Industrial Region

JAKARTA - Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the implementation of industrial regional regulations, as stated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 20 of 2024, could create equal distribution of industrial estates throughout the region, so as to develop regional industrial potential.

"Industrial areas have a mission to spread industrial development throughout the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia to create a more balanced portion of growth between industries in Java and industries outside Java," said the Minister of Industry, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, July 11.

He said one of the targets to be achieved through this regulation was an increase in the role of the non-oil and gas processing industry outside Java by 40 percent of the total added value (EVA) of the domestic manufacturing industry sector, as well as the provision of industrial estate land as a center for industrialization activities.

Therefore, he invites all parties from the central to regional governments, as well as industry players to support the implementation of this regulation to spur equitable distribution to all regions, considering that PP 20/2024 regulates in detail the promotion of industrial growth center areas (WPPI), the development of industrial allocation areas (KPI), industrial estate development (KI), as well as the development of small industrial centers and medium industries (IKM centers).

"Good cooperation between all stakeholders will be the key to success in realizing our common goals. PP No. 20 of 2024 is our common reference in developing competitive, inclusive, and sustainable industries in the future," he said.

According to him, in addition to accelerating the spread and distribution of the industry throughout Indonesia, the goal of PP Number 20 of 2024 is to have a mission to encourage increased investment contribution from the manufacturing sector outside Java.

Furthermore, fostering the use of industrial resources, thus becoming a product with high added value, increasing the capacity of human resources, and facilitating coordination and synergy in industrial development in the regions.
