KPK Waits For Prosecutor's Report Before Responding To SYL's Verdict

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will use the seven-day period given by the court to decide further steps against the verdict of former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo who was knocked today. The prosecutor's report will be a reference.

"Seven days will be used by fellow KPK public prosecutors to report to the leadership," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 11.

"In addition, it will be used at that time to file an appeal or accept the verdict," he continued.

Even so, the anti-corruption commission appreciates the verdict handed down by the panel of judges. And the attitude of the KPK through the public prosecutor's services towards the decision is to take time to think about it," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

As previously reported, former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo was found guilty in the case of extortion and receiving gratuities within the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan). As a result of his actions, the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court of Judges sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

Not only prison witnesses, but the panel of judges also imposed a fine of Rp. 300 million. If Syahrul does not have the ability, he will be replaced with imprisonment for 4 months.

In addition, the former minister also had to pay compensation of Rp. 14.1 billion and US$ 30 thousand. Payments must be made within one month after the decision has permanent legal force.
