Israeli Military Attacks Syrian Army Targets In Golan

JAKARTA - Israeli tanks and artillery attacked targets of Syrian soldiers who violated a 1974 demilitarized agreement in the Golan Heights region, the Israeli military said.

"IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) considers the Syrian military responsible for all activities that occur in its territory and will not allow any attempt to violate Israel's sovereignty," the military said.

On Tuesday, an Israeli husband and wife were killed by a Hezbollah rocket fired at the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The attack, according to the Lebanese armed group, is retaliation for the killing of Israel against one of its members in Syria.

Hezbollah began shooting at Israel after its Hamas allies launched an October 7 attack that sparked war in Gaza. Tens of thousands of Israelis and Lebanese were forced to flee the area around the border between the two countries.
