Regarding Luxury Facilities, KPU Commissioner Asal Did Not Violate The Rules, Mahfud MD: Damage To The State Of Law
JAKARTA - Former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD assessed that the ethics and morals of state officials must be put forward in response to the statement of Acting Chairman of the KPU Mochamad Afifuddin regarding the row of luxury facilities of the KPU Commissioners as long as they do not violate the rules.
"The collapse of the state of law, a.l., is because people who commit moral and ethical violations admit that they have not violated the rules. Even though the law or rules are moral and ethical," Mahfud MD said in his X account, @mohmahfudmd, Wednesday, July 10.
Mahfud then mentioned the rules containing formulas on the principles of national life ethics as a reference for the government in increasing national life in the MPR Decree No. VI/MPR/2001.
He continued, in the regulation, public officials who violate are clearly sanctioned.
"According to MPR Decree No. VI / MPR / 2001 public officials who violate ethics have resigned even though there has been no legal verdict," he said.
Previously, Mahfud MD criticized the quality of the KPU after the DKPP dismissed Hasyim Asy'ari as Chairman of the KPU for being involved in immorality.
One of these criticisms is related to the KPU commissioner's first facility which gets 3 luxury official cars, jet aircraft rental for official purposes.
Mahfud also poked facilities obtained by Hasyim Asy'ari to areas that were proven to be involved in immorality.
Mahfud also assessed that the government and the DPR should take action against the KPU commissioners and not allow this to happen.
This criticism was conveyed by Mahfud after seeing the Podcast of former KPK Commissioner Abraham Samad who invited anti-corruption activities from Andalas University, Feri Amsari.
"There are also excessive jet rentals (for official reasons), as well as other facilities if you go to an immoral (sorry) area. The DPR and the Government need to act, not be silent," Mahfud said in his X account, Sunday, July 7.
