Unyil, DPO Of Labuan Bajo Land Case Arrested By The Prosecutor's Office Has Been Freed From Kupang Detention Center Since 2021
Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights East Nusa Tenggara Marciana D Jone emphasized that the DPO of the land case of Keranga Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, named Afrizal alias Unyil who was arrested by the West Manggarai Kejari, has been released by law from the Kupang Detention Center since September 2021."The person concerned is not a Class IIB Kupang detention center who is allowed to roam freely outside the detention center for four years," he said in Kupang, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, July 10.Unyil was arrested on Tuesday, July 9, when he was about to go to Bali using Batik Air. Afrizal, continued Marciana, was released by law on September 16, 2021 because the Kupang Detention Center did not have a basis for continuing to be detained in the detention center."Afrizal is one of three Kupang High Court detainees who was released by law on September 16, 2021. The other two people are Caitano Soares and Ente Fasting," he said.Marciana emphasized that the expenditure process had been carried out according to the procedures contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number M.HH-24.PK.01.01.01 of 2011 concerning the Expenditure of Prisoners for the Sake of Law.Ten days before the detention period ended, Kupang detention officers had submitted a written notification to the official authorized to detain (Kupang High Court, ed) regarding the period of detention that would expire.The same notification is still being submitted to D-3 before the detention period ends. Then on D-1, Kupang Detention Center officers have also coordinated with the Kupang High Court. However, the Kupang High Court did not extend the detention period of the three people."Because there is no longer a legal basis for detaining, the three detainees were finally released for the sake of law on September 16, 2021," he explained.
Regarding Afrizal who later became a DPO, continued Marciana, it was no longer under the authority of the Kupang Detention Center. This is because the person concerned has indeed been released from the Kupang Detention Center after the Kupang High Court did not extend his detention period in the detention center.
