Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy Officially Return to Shrek 5

JAKARTA - Three of the film's main actors have been confirmed to return for the latest Shrek film. DreamWorks Animation announced that Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy will reprise their roles.

Mike Myers plays Shrek, Cameron Diaz plays Fiona, and Eddie Murphy plays Donkey. Other than these three, no new characters or actors have been announced. The plot remains a secret from the production company.

Previously, Eddie Murphy revealed that they have been working on Shrek 5 for several months. Murphy also mentioned that there is a film focusing on his character Donkey.

"We started (Shrek 5) a few months ago. I did this. I shot the first part, and we're going to work on it this year, we're going to finish it," said Eddie Murphy.

"Shrek will be released, and Donkey will have his own movie. We're also making a Donkey movie, so Shrek is the new Donkey," he continued.

Mike Myers has also expressed his desire to continue the Shrek films. "If I could do one Shrek film a year, I'd be happy."

The first Shrek film premiered in 2001 and earned an Academy Award nomination. The franchise's 25-year run has fueled a cultural phenomenon for animated films.

In addition to Shrek, the production company also created a spin-off for the Puss in Boots character, a Broadway musical, and three sequels.

Shrek 5 will hit theaters on July 1, 2026.
