2024 Copa America: Argentina To The Final Thanks To Messi And Alvarez's Goals

JAKARTA The defending champions Argentina returned to the Copa America finals this year after beating Canada.

The match between the two teams was completed with a score of 2-0 at the MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, United States, on Wednesday, July 10 morning WIB.

The two winning goals were scored by Julian Alvarez and Lionel Messi. Argentina will next meet Uruguay's winner against Colombia.

This victory marks the first time Argentina has reached the final round of the Copa America as the defending champion since 1959 when two editions of the tournament took place in the same year.

At that time the Tango team failed to keep their title after in the final match they had to admit Uruguay's superiority, which won their tenth title in the tournament.

This victory also extended La Seleccion's unbeaten record to 10 matches in all competitions since losing 0-2 against Uruguay in November last year.

In addition, they also kept their clean sheet into seven games and conceded only three goals in that time.
