Pencak Silat Is Planned To Be Demonstrated At The 2024 Paris Olympics
JAKARTA The sports (sports) for pencak silat entered the plan to be demonstrated at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI), Dito Ariotedjo, has chaired a coordination meeting regarding the plan to carry out the demonstration on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
"We are serious so that later this pencak silat can be competed in the Olympics in the future," said Dito at the Kemenpora Office, Senayan, Jakarta.
The implementation of the demonstration is a great opportunity for Indonesia to introduce pencak silat to the world stage.

Menpora Dito mengatakan bahwa untuk itu pihaknya ingin menghadirkan perwakilan negara-negara lain dalam acara demonstrasi pencak silat tersebut.
"We need the support of various parties so that other countries can attend later, including the President of the IOC (International Olympic Committee) Thomas Bach," said Dito.
This demonstration plan was responded with pleasure by the Daily Chairperson of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) Benny Gautama Sumarsono.
He is optimistic that the pencak silat demonstration will be successful and smooth and hopes that one day pencak silat will really be officially competed at the Olympics.
"IPSI will jointly participate in preparing it immediately. The plan is that it will invite other countries, including NOC from various countries," said Benny.
Pencak silat at this time has not become an Olympic sport. The target is that this sport can be contested at the 2036 Olympics.
Pencak silat is one of 14 leading sports as stated in Presidential Regulation (PP) Number 86 of 2021. This sport is projected to excel in the Olympics later.
