KAI Asks PMN 2025 For IDR 1.8 Trillion For New KRL Procurement
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI proposed a State Capital Participation (PMN) of IDR 1.8 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year.
The funds will be used for the procurement of new KRL.
Director of Finance and Risk Management of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Salusra Wijaya said the procurement of this new KRL was urgent because the age of the train is now over 30 years old. At the same time to anticipate an increase in the number of KRL users.
"So it must enter a period of conservation while the volume of passengers whose growth is very fast so that the potential for overload will be higher during peak hours," he said in a meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 9.
Salusra said the density of train passengers can be seen from peak hours between mornings when leaving for the office and evening when people come home from work.
The ratio if the passenger density is not fixed then it can reach 242 percent or 2.42 times the train capacity.
Therefore, continued Salusra, KAI made changes to the spare train.
However, currently the train reserves have been used up because some trains can no longer function.
"Well, with these principles, we ask to be able to get an participation of the State Law in 2025 of IDR 1.8 trillion for the additional procurement. So we hope that the additional purpose of PMN is IDR 1.8 in 2025 for this KRL train can be fulfilled because it is very urgent," he explained.

Previously, KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo said that based on his party's calculations, KAI had to replace 37 trainsets by 2027 to ensure the safety and reliability of the KRL fleet.
Didiek also explained that additional facilities were also needed because it was predicted that the number of Jabodetabek KRL passengers could reach 410 million people by 2027.
