Will Live The Fierce Match Against Spain, Didier Deschamps: If It's Boring, Change The Channel
JAKARTA - France coach Didier Deschamps responded to criticism ahead of his team's appearance against Spain at Euro 2024. Deschamp asked viewers to change television channels if the game was boring.
France is scheduled to meet Spain in the semifinals of Euro 2024 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 02.00 WIB.
Les Bleus did manage to step foot towards the semifinals of Euro 2024 which means it is only one step away from the final fight. However, many consider France's game at Euro 2024 boring or uncomfortable.
Regarding this assumption, Didier Deschamps as the coach gave a response. He responded casually to the criticism.
Deschamps actually suggested that viewers change canals and not have to watch French games at Euro 2024 if it was boring.
"If you're bored, please change channels. I don't have a problem," Deschamps was quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
"You don't have to watch our game. It's a European tournament, it's very difficult for everyone to date. It's happened to us in the previous edition, but we also have the ability to make a lot of people happy."
"There were times in our country when we had bad times in terms of football. I'm sorry if our football was boring, it made me feel bad," said Deschamps.
The assumption that France's boring game could arise because Les Bleus' performance at Euro 2024 is indeed inconsistent. Even though he went far to the semifinals, Kylian Mbappe's performance and colleagues were not always classy.
France qualified for the last 16 of Euro 2024 as runners-up in Group D. They got from one win and two draws.
In the round of 16, France managed to get past Belgium. Being a favorite team, Les Bleus won with a narrow score of 1-0 to advance to the quarter-finals.
In the quarter-finals, France's efforts to move smoothly into the advanced phase were also not easy. They face a strong team on par with Portugal and can only draw 0-0 in normal time.
Les Bleus then won after passing the penalty shootout with a score of 5-3.
In fact, the three goals that have been scored by France so far have not been produced thanks to a good finish. Two of them were an opponent's own goal and the remaining was Kylian Mbappe's penalty.
