Refer System Implemented In Liga 1 2024/2025, Help Evaluate Referee Performance Like The Premier League

The new breakthrough was implemented by PSSI for Liga 1 2024/2025 in terms of referee performance. As an evaluation parameter, they will implement a Refer System as the Premier League does.

This decision was conveyed by the Deputy Chairman of the PSSI Referee Committee, Yoshimi Ogawa. In a joint media workshop at the GBK Arena on Monday, July 8, 2024, he explained that the Refer System will make it easier to monitor the referee's performance carefully.

"This Refer System is the latest referee evaluation system because the referee needs to adjust the evaluation of our expert, which we refer to as a referee assessor. Not only evaluation, but also providing feedback from them," said Yoshimi Ogawa.

Furthermore, the Japanese man ensured that the use of the Refer System would be implemented accurately to see the referee's performance. The results will be used as an evaluation for the PSSI Referee Committee to provide input to the referee on duty.

"This system is very accurate, not just evaluation. We can also provide the necessary subject matter to them (the referee on duty)," said Ogawa.

"We really appreciate Mr. Erick Thohir (Chairman of PSSI) and the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) to present this system. They can definitely see the development of our referees every game and they can fix it," he said.

As explained on the official PSSI website, the Refer System is an automated tagging system that allows for periodic evaluation and developing the performance of the referees on duty.

The regulatory evaluation technology has actually been used by several soccer competitions abroad, such as the Japanese League and the Premier League.

The Premier League does provide reviews of several referee decisions that have sparked debate. The Premier League Referee Board (PGMOL) provided detailed information about the reasons the referee determined his actions on the field, complete with videos from related incidents.

In Indonesia, the presence of this platform is also an effort by the PSSI Referee Committee to uphold information disclosure in a match.

Later, Refer System will be present in the form of a website that can be accessed in general. It will be seen about the percentage of correct referee decisions and the assessment of referee assessors in each match.

This system will be applied to League 1 and League 2. Interestingly, every club owner can deliver criticism and suggestions directly through the official website.
