Minas CEOR Investment Approved, Pertamina Ready To Increase Rokan Block Production
JAKARTA - Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) Working Area (WK) Rokan is ready to increase oil production from the Rokan Block through a plan of development (PoD) Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR) Minas Stage-1.
This was reinforced by the approval of the Final Investment Decision (FID) of CEOR Minas by PHR President Director Ruby Mulyawan on June 30, 2024.
With the approval of this FID, PHR is committed to developing oil fields with CEOR technology and is ready to enter the execution stage of the Minas CEOR project to increase oil production from the Rokan Block.
"This approval is necessary for the Minas CEOR Stage-1 Area-A project in order to enter the execution stage of the project where activities such as drilling wells, workingovers (improvement wells) and conversion of existing wells, injection of chemicals, reactivation and reoperation of existing facilities will be carried out," Ruby said, Monday, July 8.
Meanwhile, UPstream Business EVP PHR Rokan Andre Wijanarko said the Minas CEOR Stage-1 Area-A project is an implementation of the latest recovery technology, namely by injecting the Alkali Surfant Polymer (ASP) on 3 Minas Field Area-A plants to increase the production of the Rokan Block.
For your information, CEOR itself is an effort to increase hydrocarbon production from oil reservoirs or drain oil to be produced by injecting materials or special chemical fluids.
Andre said, after the FID approval and drilling and well workover were carried out. It is planned that the first injection will be carried out in December 2025.
"The potential peak production from the CEOR Minas is more than 2,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) with the addition of oil acquisition from the Rokan Block of 2.1 million barrels," said Andre.

Separately, the Head of SKK Migas Representative for Sumbagut, Rikky Rahmat Firdaus, fully supports PHR's efforts in implementing and developing CEOR Minas.
"As an operator whose operating activities are supervised by the government through SKK Migas, we support PHR's steps for the development of CEOR Minas, especially in an effort to increase production figures and achieve the target of 1 million barrels of oil in 2030," said Rikky.
He hopes that the Minas CEOR development work can be carried out immediately and developed properly by PHR.
"Of course, by continuing to prioritize reliable and safe performance for increased production for the resilience of the country's energy," concluded Rikky.
