Waze's New Feature To Find The Nearest COVID-19 Referral Hospital
JAKARTA - The Waze digital map application is helping the government in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. As a mitigation measure, Waze has added a number of referral hospital points that provide services related to the corona virus in Indonesia.
Whereas currently the Government has prepared 132 hospitals and medical examination centers that can be a reference for the community in handling COVID-19 throughout Indonesia.
Waze users can enter keywords such as “COVID”, “covid”, “coronavirus”, “corona virus”, and “corona hospital” to find the locations of the closest examination centers.
"Waze is committed to helping drivers stay safe while COVID-19 is still endemic, by providing accurate and up-to-date information on the location of road closures, maintenance and related health checks," said Waze Indonesia's Country Manager, Marlin R. Siahaan. in a written statement.
Globally, Waze has also added road closures, medical examination centers, and associated pop-up reminders features - supported by the Map Editor community. This is important for Waze users if they need quick navigation guidance in medical treatment.
"It is highly recommended to carry out the examination procedure at the nearest hospital, which they can find its location on in Waze," he continued.
Not only Waze, a number of other world technology companies are also working and contributing to the fight against the corona virus. Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Reddit also contributed by suppressing the spread of hoaxes and disinformation on the internet.
These technology companies are also collaborating with the world health agency (WHO) so that users can get accurate information about the corona virus and Covid-19. Some of them even contributed funds to help medical personnel around the world.
