10 Million Drivers Are Ticketed By ETLE Every Month In Jakarta

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director Kombes Pol Latif Usman said as many as 10 million vehicle drivers were caught on electronic ticketing or ETLE in Jakarta and its surroundings in one month. "One month our E-TLE has 10 million violations recorded," he said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, July 7. But Latif did not specify in detail the type of vehicle violators of the traffic. However, he said that this amount is an accumulation of hundreds of monitoring cameras scattered on the streets of Jakarta. "In Greater Jakarta, we have 137 ETLEs, which are 127 static, which are 10 mobile," he said. Furthermore, Latif said the most violation was not using helmets for motorcyclists. Then followed by violating even odd (gage) rules and not using a seat belt by users of four-wheeled vehicles. "Not using helmets, gage, mobile belts, using mobile phones," said Latif.Lative added that ETLE ticketing is a digital traffic enforcement and ordering system. In contrast to manual ticketing, traffic violators can be subject to a ticket without being caught directly by officers.

"The CCTV camera and the ETLE magnetic induction sensor are able to detect traffic violations automatically and take pictures as evidence. In addition to static ETLE at red lights, there is an ETLE Mobile mounted on a Police Patrol vehicle and traveling around a number of roads," he said. The ETLE rules themselves are contained in a Telegram Letter numbered: ST/1044/V/HUK.6.2/2023 dated May 16, 2023, which was signed by the Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the National Police Inspector General Pol. Firman Shantyabudi addressed to traffic police (Polantas) ranks.
