Extends 2 Days Of Search For Blitar Longor Victims, SAR Admits Gembur Soil Structure Is An Obstacle

The SAR team decided to extend the search for landslide victims in Sukorejo Hamlet, Bumirejo Village, Kesamben District, Blitar, East Java (East Java).

The search operation has been extended after entering the seventh day of searching for victims has not yet been found.

"The results of coordination with BPBD Blitar Regency and other joint SAR elements are agreed that the SAR operation will be extended for two days," said Head of the Surabaya SAR Office as SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) Muhamad Hariyadi in his statement, Sunday, July 7, quoted by Antara.

The SAR Team Commander from the Trenggalek SAR Post, Yhoni Fariza, added that the search for the last two days could not be carried out optimally due to rainy weather.

Not only that, he continued, the terrain in the search area was also an obstacle, such as the presence of new cracks along the mud material route that could endanger the joint SAR team.

"The structure of the soil on the hill that landslides is in the form of loose soil without any large rocks at all, so the soil structure is very easy to move," said Yhoni.

He explained that in the search area there were springs located in the middle of the landslide material. The flow of water flowing from the spring cannot be relocated.

"It is feared that the flow of water will saturate the soil and produce further landslides," said Yhoni.

Efforts to search for victims named Gunawan, the owner of a chicken coop, were carried out with the help of heavy excavators or dredging and air monitoring machines using drones.

The seventh day of search efforts were carried out by expanding the search area by dividing the joint SAR team into three Search and Rescue Units (SRU).

The SAR elements involved in this search include the Trenggalek SAR Post rescue team, BPBD Blitar Regency, East Java BPBD, Kesamben Police, Infantry Battalion 511, Kanjuruhan SAR, Firefighters, Orari, Mapala, Social Service, and the surrounding community.

Previously, the Surabaya Basarnas had sent a rescue team from the Trenggalek SAR Post to search for victims buried by landslides in Sukorejo Hamlet, Bumirejo Village, Kesamben District, Blitar Sunday, June 30 evening. By bringing extriction equipment, six personnel went to the scene.

The landslide disaster hit four victims. A victim on behalf of Anto (23) was found safe, while two others were found dead by the joint SAR team on Sunday (30/6) at around 23.35 WIB. Two victims who died were found buried in landslides and immediately evacuated to the Kesamben Health Center in the names of Jarianto (62) and Mugiono (69).
