Visit The Market In Bulukumba, South Sulawesi, Jokowi Buys Fruits And Vegetables
BULUKUMBA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by Iriana Joko Widodo made a visit to the Cekkeng Market, Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi (Sulsel), Friday, July 5, 2024, to shop for self-selected fruits and vegetables.
On the second day of a working visit to South Sulawesi, the atmosphere at the Cekkeng Market was filled with extraordinary enthusiasm when President Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana arrived to greet local residents and traders.
The Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat in a statement received by ANTARA, Friday, reported that President Jokowi and Iriana were seen tracing every market aisle, stopping at several traders' stalls to interact directly and buy some merchandise.
The two also do not hesitate to choose their own available chilies, oranges, and vegetables. One of the most encouraging moments was when they stopped at Hasminah stall, a trader who had been selling in this market for a long time.
Hasminah with a beamed face shared her impressions and experiences when dealing directly with the President.
"Happy, happy, because just now there is Mr. Jokowi in Bulukumba. Buy oranges, onions. Asking (price). Thirty (one kilo) red onions, one thousand oranges for one grain. (Total) 40 thousand, given 100 thousand, happy, happy, thank you very much to Pak Jokowi for coming to Bulukumba, Cekkeng Market," said Hasminah with a smile.
Other traders, Cia, also admitted that they were lucky to be able to serve the President, and no less happy.
"Buy 10 thousand lombok (given 50 thousand), delicious, thank God, happy," he said with a smile.
This visit is not only a valuable moment for local traders but also the importance of direct interaction between the leader of the country and his people.
