Vulnerable To Falling During Heavy Rain, DKI Provincial Government Asked To Cut Old Trees
JAKARTA - Member of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Abdurrahman Suhaimin asked the DKI Provincial Government to check all old trees in Jakarta. If they are rotten, the old tree needs to be cut down.
This is because old trees are prone to falling if heavy rains hit Jakarta.
"The Parks Service needs to monitor trees that are prone to falling and are old enough to be trimmed or done early anticipation," said Suhaimi when contacted, Friday, July 5.
Detection of fallen old trees in Jakarta, continued Suhaimi, could minimize the emergence of victims. In addition, it is also necessary to collaborate with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency to find out Jakarta's weather conditions.
"To anticipate extreme natural events, the City Parks and Forest Service must always be on standby, including monitoring and coordinating with BMKG," said Suhaimi.
Heavy rains flushed the Jakarta area On Wednesday, July 3 afternoon until the evening. The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded 27 fallen trees in 5 administrative cities in Jakarta.
