Fadli Zon Affirms The Indonesian Nation Never Hesitates To Support Palestine's Independence

JAKARTA - Chairman of the House of Representatives' Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Fadli Zon, reiterated the support of the Indonesian nation for the independence of the Palestinian nation.

This statement was made by Fadli Zon when he received the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) delegation led by HER Mr. Cheikh Niang, Wednesday, July 3, at the DPR RI Jakarta Building.

The UN Commission, which was formed by the mandate of the UN General Assembly in 1975, is working to restore the basic rights of the Palestinian people, especially realizing the independence of Palestine as a fully sovereign country. Fadli Zon appreciated the visit. According to him, this visit shows CEIRPP's trust in the Indonesian Parliament as a strategic partner for the struggle of the Palestinian people.

It is fitting for all components of the Indonesian people, including the DPR, to be committed to supporting Palestinian independence. Without any doubt, all elements of the Indonesian nation fully support CEIRPP.

"We at the DPR's BKSAP are very enthusiastic in collaboration with CEIRPP, which carries out a very crucial mission, namely restoring the basic rights of the Palestinian people, working for peace, and mobilizing aid for the Palestinian people. We at the BKSAP are the ally of the DPR's diplomacy. We consider parliamentary diplomacy to be very unique and more flexible," he said. In parliamentary forums, such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the decision-making mechanism is much more democratic and fair than in the UN DK. "We have succeeded in submitting resolutions several times in various parliamentary forums that benefit the Palestinian issue," he continued.

Fadli Zon noted that at least CEIRPP conveyed five important things during a visit. First, appreciation to Indonesia, especially the DPR for its usual extraordinary support for the struggle of the Palestinian people, which is a concern of the global community.

Second, praise related to Indonesia's strong consistency in rejecting diplomatic relations with Israel. Third, the request for the DPR to lobby high levels to countries that have not recognized the Palestinian state, especially Indonesia, as the cultural leader of ASEAN.

While the fourth, encourages parliament as a center of excellence to strengthen awareness to all lines of society regarding the Palestinian issue.

And fifth, emphasizing the current priority is to immediately stop Israeli genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. "That is the important point of the CEIRPP delegation meeting," said Fadli Zon.
