Staff Of Erick Thohir Regarding PMN: Not For SOEs To Get Sick But To Carry Out Assignment

JAKARTA - The Special Staff (Staffsus) of the Minister of SOEs, Arya Sinulingga, emphasized that the State Capital Participation (PMN) was not used for state-owned companies that were sick.

He said PMN was given as capital to carry out assignments from the government.

For example, continued Arya, SOEs assigned to build Toll Roads in Sumatra. He said PMN was needed because the construction of toll roads in the area was not yet economic, so SOEs assigned to do it.

"What is certain is that PMN is given, we usually ask for it, it's for assignments. For example, SOEs are assigned to build toll roads to Sumatra, for example. That's an assignment. Why? Because it's not yet economical, SOEs are working, so they are assigned," he said at the Ministry of SOEs, Jakarta, Thursday, July 4.

Another example, continued Arya, is that PMN is given to PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN. The injection of fresh funds is used to carry out electricity program assignments in rural areas.

"You could say that almost 70 to 80 percent of our PMN is an assignment. So it's not for (BUMN) to lose," he explained.

Therefore, Arya said, as long as the state-owned company is still assigned by the government to work on an assignment project, state-owned companies still need PMN.

"But SOEs produce dividends to the state, dividends are given. Now this dividend is a total of 2020, since Mr. Erick, the dividends we give are IDR 368.6 trillion. PMN requested IDR 270 trillion, so actually it's BUMN money too. So it's not from people's money, "said Arya.

For your information, Commission XI of the DPR has approved the provision of PMN to BUMN for the 2024 fiscal year. The PMN consists of cash and non-cash.

Cash PMN is given to six SOEs with a total fund of IDR 12.9 trillion. Meanwhile, non-cash PMN is given to 12 SOEs.
