Receive PMN IDR 1.5 Trillion, Pelni Uses To Buy Three New Ships

JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT Pelni (Persero) received State Equity Participation (PMN) from Investment Reserves for Fiscal Year 2024 amounting to IDR 1.5 trillion. Pelni will use the injection of funds to buy three new ships.

For your information, the decision to give PMN to Pelni was read out by the Chairperson of the Meeting at the Commission XI of the DPR RI Working Meeting with the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta, last Wednesday, July 3.

President Director of PT Pelni (Persero) Tri Andayani revealed that the company plans to use the injection of funds to pay for the advance purchase of three new ships.

"We will ensure that its utilization will be carried out with good governance and according to the rules," he said in an official statement, Thursday, July 4.

You, as he is familiarly called, said that the three new passenger ships were to replace Pelni passenger ships whose age had exceeded their technical age, which was 30 years.

"The ships that will be replaced are in accordance with the oldest age order of the ship owned by Pelni, namely the Umsini Ship and the 39-year-old Kelimutu Ship and the 38-year-old Lawit Ship by 2024," you explained.

You explained that the company is trying to replace all Pelni ships that have exceeded their technical age gradually over the next few years by proposing a PMN scheme to the government.

"The government's involvement in this matter is a form of state concern in order to encourage national economic growth and provide justice for all people to get proper, safe and comfortable transportation services," he said.

For your information, Pelni as a state-owned company (BUMN) engaged in shipping services currently operates 26 passenger ships that serve 1,058 sections and oversee 71 ports.

In addition to passenger transportation, Pelni also serves 30 Pioneer Ship routes which are a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where the Pioneer Ship is a means of accessibility for population mobility in the 3TP area, where the Perintis Ship oversees 236 ports with a total of 2,844 routes.
