Don't Just Share Posts, Facebook Is More And More Fiercely Blocked By Hoax Spreader Accounts!
JAKARTA - If you are a Facebook netizen, of course, you will still remember how hoaxes are milling about on this platform. Starting from a post from a buzzer account, spread via the Facebook group, then ending in the family WA group.
Indeed, Facebook is already declaring holy war on hoaxes and misinformation. The company has also embodied this attitude in the form of features and community policy updates.
It's just that, there are still stubborn accounts that don't heed the rules. Like mushrooms in the rainy season, Facebook groups with banned content keep popping up. Continue to exist and multiply.
So, it is only natural that Facebook continues to provide updates. And recently, the company owned by Mark Zuckerberg launched a tougher update: it will remove entire groups that nag it against the rules!
Facebook is taking one more step that has a huge impact on its community. On Wednesday, March 17, the social media giant announced a lengthy document containing policy changes.
Through this new document, the company emphasizes that it will limit the accounts of individuals and communities who repeatedly violate the rules. Not only that, users will also see a notification when they join a community that is known to violate the policy.
Simultaneously, Facebook will also limit notification of invitations coming from the group. On the other hand, accounts that are already members will be made difficult to find posts from the group.
"We've thought about these steps in their entirety, along with decreasing the rate at which the group appears on the homepage, making it more difficult to find and minimizing other accounts joining the group that violate our rules," said Facebook VP of Engineering, Tom Alison, via FB. Newsroom, Wednesday, March 17th.
As the old saying goes, rules are there to be broken. And for the case of Facebook, it seems that the company often faces netizens with such typical.
As a result, the company also took firm action to delete and block the account in question if it was found repeatedly to violate community rules.
"When someone has repeatedly violated the group rules, we will block them from posting activity or or commenting on any group for a certain period of time," wrote Tom.
In addition, Tom also explained that his party would ensure that the account in question would not be able to invite other people and could not create new groups. According to Tom, these steps are aimed at blocking certain accounts using Facebook for bad purposes.
Not only that, Tom also said that the holy war against misinformation will continue. Facebook will continue to develop and invest in new features so that users can actually use the platform as a form of networking and community support system.
