Marquez Brothers Target Dutch MotoGP Podium At Assen

JAKARTA - Two Gresini Racing Federal Oil drivers, Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez are eyeing the podium position in the 8th MotoGP 2024 season at the Assen Circuit, the Netherlands on Sunday night.

The Marquez brothers are eyeing the best results at Assen because they both occupy a strategic position on the starting line of the 2024 Dutch MotoGP. In the qualifying session, Ducati Desmosedici GP23's motorcycle is in fourth position with a time of 1:30.979 seconds, while Marc Marquez is in seventh position with a time of 1:31.378 seconds.

During the sprint Race, Saturday (29/6) Marc Marquez experienced an incident at high speed, fortunately he was not injured. Meanwhile, Alex Marquez, who appeared consistent in targeting the fifth position, was hampered by the rear tire conditions so that in the remaining two laps his position was away, even famous penalty.

"When there are two laps left in the race, the results can be very different. It's funny, we had a bit of trouble towards the end with the rear tire problem, but on the other hand we gathered some useful information about the important front hard tires ahead of the full race session," said Alex Marquez in a press release received by Antara on Sunday.

"Now we need to make some adjustments and tomorrow we will be able to fight for the top five," said Alex.

On the other hand, Marc Marquez regretted that he had experienced the incident at the beginning. In fact, previously he ensured that the expert mechanical team had prepared Ducati Desmosedici GP23 to make it more comfortable to drive at the Assen circuit, the Netherlands.

"The positive note is that I could have hurt myself and that didn't happen, especially at Turn seven. It's a shame for this race because the sensation of the motorbike is extraordinary and now we have to return it when it's finished," said Marc Marquez.

In the 2024 MotoGP World Title Competition, Marc Marquez is in third place in the standings with 136 points. 44 points adrift of Jorge Martin, the top position of the standings with 180 points. Meanwhile, Alex Marquez is in 10th position with 53 points.
