Attacked By A Wolf While Jogging, A Woman Experiences Wounds On Her Neck, Betis And Back

JAKARTA - A woman staying at a French safari zoo suffered serious injuries to her neck, calf and back from being bitten by a wolf, after entering an area that is usually only accessible by car.

Staying overnight in the park, the 37-year-old was jogging in the morning and accidentally entered the safari zone, an area of seven hectares where animals, wolves and bears roam freely, according to CNN from TF1 June 28.

The attack took place around 9.30 a.m. at the Thoiry zoology park in Yvelines, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) west of Paris, France. TF1 reported that as he ran, the team "slaped" and caused serious injuries due to a bite on the neck, calf and back.

"Luckily the medical staff immediately intervened and we were able to save this person," zoo CEO Christelle Bercheny told a news conference.

Meanwhile, LeParisien said the attack was carried out by three wolves. According to Bergeny, the victim passed through the entrance to the "American natural fence" where the Macthenic wolf lived, which was recognized from its gray fur, as well as wild dogs, bears and even bison. Access to the ground-electric platform prevents animals from crossing it. But not humans.

Still, according to safari managers, clients have "all the information" about the dangers of this area.

"They have plans, facilitators who tell them, and reminders continue to be given," he explained.

The woman is being treated at a nearby hospital and her condition is now "stable". The zoo has started an investigation, while three Macnetic wolves remain in the safari area.

Quoted from DW, founded in 1968 by a local castle owner, the Thoiry zoo was sold to a group of investors in 2018. With an area of 150 hectares, the zoo houses about 1,500 animals and about 100 species.
