BRI Blocks 1,049 Accounts Indicated Online Gambling Shelters
JAKARTA PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI has also actively helped the government carry out eradication by periodically searching for BRI accounts used by perpetrators to accommodate online gambling money.
BRI Director of Risk Management Agus Sudiarto explained that the number of online gambling cases (judol) is increasing every day. The government has also formed an Online Gambling Eradication Task Force with the aim of cutting off online gambling lines so that it is expected to be eradicated from upstream to downstream.
"This is done by BRI by actively browsing various online gambling websites for data collection," said Agus, quoted on Saturday, June 29.
If an indication of BRI's account is found to be used as a top up collector or deposit for online gambling, the online gambling website display is stored for the basis for blocking accounts.
We have carried out this eradication process since July 2023 and is still ongoing. In the period July 2023 to June 2024 we have found 1,049 accounts which were immediately followed by blocking, "explained Agus.

"With this effort, it is hoped that BRI as a financial institution will continue to proactively contribute to the eradication of online gambling. In addition, the company is committed to continuing to educate and provide financial literacy," concluded Agus.
